IMP-FC
IMP-FC is an electronic gas volume conversion device and a data logger with integrated GPRS/GSM/SMS modem, collected in one case and installable in hazardous area, particularly in the zone classified as Zone 1. Its purpose is to compute gas volumes at standard conditions, processing volume, temperature, pressure and compressibility at measurement conditions. Gas volumes are measured using a low-frequency (LF) input. Temperature and pressure transducers are installable in the zone classified as Zone 0.
IMP-FC is divided in 2 functional logical sections integrated in a single device
- The IMP-FC-BOTTOM section, which works on measurement and power supply
- The IMP-FC-TOP section, which works on data processing, data logging, displaying, and user interface.
IMP-FC complies with the standard UNI EN12405-1:2010 and meets the MID requirements according to the annex MI-002 (gas volume electronic conversion device) according to the Welmec 7.2 Issue 5 guide. It complies with the Italian regulation ARG/gas 155/08 and UNI-TS11291. The gas compressibility computation is carried out according to the ISO 12213-3 (SGERG-88) regulation or imposing a Zb/Z fixed factor programmable by the user. Measured volumes are converted into standard or base volumes, at reference values of 0°C or 15°C and 1,01325 bar, according to the EN12405-1:2010 regulation. These values are programmable by the user.
Physical parameters necessary to implement the gas compressibility law and the conversion factor are:
GAS TEMPERATURE (T)
Measured with a temperature probe that is directly connected to the device
GAS PRESSURE (P)
Measured with a pressure transmitter that is directly connected to the device
GAS VOLUME (Vm)
Measured by the meter pulse. The scale factor of acquired pulse (0,1 – 1 – 10 – 100) is programmable.
PARAMETERS TO DEFINE CHEMICAL/PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF MEASURED GAS
Values can be programmed both locally and remotely in both cases using CTR protocol.
VOLUME CONVERSION
This device elaborates the measured volume (Vm) and transforms it into base volume (Vb) using parameters acquired on the field (P and T) and the whole of the gas parameters to compute Zb/Z as described above
where:
- Vm = Volume at measurement conditions
- Vb = Volume converted to base conditions
- T = Gas temperature at measurement conditions
- Tb = Absolute temperature at base conditions
- P = Absolute gas pressure at measurement conditions
- Pb = Absolute gas pressure at base conditions
- Z = Gas compressibility factor at measurement conditions
- Zb = Gas compressibility factor at base conditions
- C = Conversion factor
MEASUREMENT ACQUISITION
Temperature (T)
4-cable temperature probe PT1000
Pressure (P)
Pressure transductor
Volume (Vm)
Low-frequency input (max 3Hz). Received pulses are multiplied by pulse weight.
PARAMETERS DISPLAY AND PROGRAMMING
Parameters are displayed on the IMP-FC backlit display.
Metrological data are the following:
- Volumes at measurement conditions (Vm)
- Corrected volumes (Vb)
- Conversion factor (C)
- Compressibility factor (Z)
- Pressure at measurement conditions (P)
- Temperature at measurement conditions (T)
- All chemical/physical characterisation gas parameters (gas parameters)
STORAGE
Acquired and computed parameters are stored in a temporal recording section. Among others are stored the following:
monthly traces for 12 months
daily traces for 3 months
hourly traces for 3 months
tariff bands
COMMUNICATION
Communication, as stated in the Italian regulation UNI-TS11291, occurs according to the CTR protocol.
DIGITAL OUTPUTS
Acquired and computed volumes and the volume converter alarm status are reported on two digital outputs.
